Varicose Veins -insurance coverage options

The below treatment options are typically ones that can be submitted to your insurance for coverage. However, every insurance plan is different and some do not cover every treatment option. We are happy to guide you through this process.

Insurance process:

  • Step 1 - Initial appointment with Dr. Kim for examination of the legs and to document symptoms

  • Step 2 - Undergo an ultrasound scan to measure vein size and reflux (typically, a separate appointment with our ultrasound technician

  • Step 3 - Undergo conservative treatment options for a specified amount of time (exercise, elevation of legs, wearing compression stockings)

  • Step 4 - If conservative treatment fails, submit a prior authorization to your insurance

  • Step 5 - Wait for insurance approval

  • Step 6 - If treatment plan is approved, proceed with treatment(s)

Treatment options:

  • Endovenous Chemical Ablation

  • Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation

  • Foam Sclerosant Therapy
