Welcome to Golden Coast Dermatology
Skin Cancer and Vein Center
Let me introduce myself…
My name is Dr. James Tidwell. I’m an expert in skin cancer and venous disease.
As a patient in our practice, your health and wellbeing are very important to us. Our aim is to create a supportive and comfortable environment where you can receive the highest quality care with an efficient approach to get you back to your life.
I’m a fellowship trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeon. What does that mean? It means I did an additional training program after my dermatology residency learning from the best in the world how to cure cancer and leave only minimal evidence it was ever there. Using a microscope, we completely remove all the cancer in one treatment so you leave knowing you are cancer free that day. No other method does that. It also saves more healthy tissue than any other option for treating skin cancer.
I’m also Board Certified in Venous and Lymphatic medicine. Do you struggle with painful legs, swollen veins, cramps, or restless legs at night? This is a sign that the valves in your legs have been damaged and need to be repaired. You don’t have to suffer with this anymore and insurance covers vein treatment when they meet medical criteria. We can help resolve this to get your sleep and shorts back.
If there is a cosmetic treatment that you might be interested in or wanting to know more about, we can advise you. Aging gracefully and feeling confident are wonderful things. I don’t believe in overhyped marketing or unnatural results. Just the right treatments, for the right person, in the right amount to make them happy.
Thanks for considering us for your skin cancer and vein care.
We want to help you and your family. Call us to make an appointment today.
Welcome to Golden Coast
We recommend that everyone get a yearly skin cancer screening. Increasingly we see skin cancer in young adults as well as older adults. It’s important to diagnose skin cancer as early as possible to improve treatment results, reduce risk of recurrence, and improve appearance after removal. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer especially in areas like Orange County with lots of year round sun exposure and outdoor activities. More than one in five people will develop skin cancer. When skin cancer is present, Mohs surgery has the highest cure rate and leaves behind the maximum amount of healthy tissue possible.
The skin’s quality is a window to how the rest of one’s body is functioning. Skin disease could be a sign of poor heart or liver health. We all need to keep our skin clear from disease to protect from infections, quality of life, and the ability to enjoy the wonderful climate here in Orange County. Medical Dermatology includes conditions such as mole check, psoriasis, acne, eczema, skin allergy testing, and rashes. It’s good practice to have an annual dermatology examine of your entire skin as some conditions can actually be quite serious if left untreated.
As we age, our appearance changes which can sometimes lead to one not feeling like one’s best self. Advances in science and treatments have led to better outcomes in procedures to keep you looking youthful. We can tailor our treatments to your specific needs whether you are looking for subtle results with no downtime or more dramatic results. And if you aren’t interested in cosmetics, there won’t be any pressure from providers. We are here to make you look your best and we aren’t into sales techniques to make you feel uncomfortable or talk you into something you don’t want or need. We can provide Botox, filler, lasers, chemical peels, and microneedling.
Painful or unsightly veins can really diminish people’s quality of life. In addition to the important recommendation of daily compression socks, we have a range of procedures that improve the appearance of your legs by reducing painful veins. Treating veins can improve circulation, quality of life, and confidence. We specialize in treating medical veins before we address cosmetic concerns meaning if cosmetic veins are treated in isolation without looking at the whole system they will probably return in a few months if the underlying problem isn’t addressed. The underlying problem is that the valves in our veins give out causing blood to pool which leads to pain and achy legs and decreased circulation. Your leg veins that are painful are a medical issue covered by your insurance. You don’t have to live with them; we can help.
