Endovenous Chemical Ablation - VenaSeal

The VenaSeal Vein Closure System is the newest method to cure varicose vein disease. It is also highly effective! It uses a small amount of a specially formulated medical adhesive to instantly close any diseased veins. This directs blood from damaged veins to healthier veins deeper in the leg. Immediate circulation improvement is seen and symptoms are relieved.

The VenaSeal closure system is a minimally invasive technique for treating varicose vein disease. It is a safe and simple outpatient treatment for varicose veins and venous insufficiency. When veins are damaged over time, blood begins to collect in the diseased veins and will not properly return to the heart. The Venaseal technique uses an adhesive to close the diseased veins and restore blood flow to healthy veins deeper in the leg.

These treatments are highly effective at reducing symptoms, such as swelling, pain, or cramping in the legs.

The VenaSeal system is an improvement over other methods because it allows for instant treatment with a single injection, an immediate return to normal activities, and no need for compression stockings. This also avoids the large scarring which can occur with procedures of the past, such as vein stripping.

Treatment Day

Treatment with VenaSeal is a very simple 1 hour procedure. You are made comfortable in one of our procedure rooms. Using the map of damaged veins made during your consultation, Dr. Jessica Kim identifies the damaged veins that need to be treated. Local anesthesia is used and a single injection with a small catheter is performed into the vein. Damaged veins and valves are sealed with the specialized adhesive. This provides immediate restoration of circulation and improvement of symptoms.

Of particular enjoyment for our patients is that, unlike other treatments, no compression socks are needed after this procedure. They are also able to immediately return to normal activities and work that same day.
