What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are a soft tissue injectable treatment, typically consisting of hyaluronic acid - a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is present in skin and cartilage. Fillers are FDA approved and provide favorable cosmetic results when injected properly by a qualified injector.
What can it treat?
Dermal fillers are typically used for volume depletion and wrinkles with the intention of restoring a smoother appearance. Typical treatment areas include:
Lips
Cheeks
Marionette lines
Nasolabial fold
Jawline
What is treatment like?
Dermal filler treatments typically require a topical anesthetic to make the treatment areas numb in order to reduce pain. The numbing takes approximately 30 minutes to take effect and the actual injection can take between 15 to 30 minutes.
Post treatment, we recommmend that you do not exercise for 24 hours. Also, do not disturb, press, or manipulate the injected area for 24 hours and try to sleep on your back. Start gentle skin care and sun protection the day of treatment.
What to expect post treatment and other information?
Results are typically immediate and can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years (on average, about 1 year). This depends on the product used, the amount injected and how quickly your body metabolizes the filler. Dr. Jessica Kim does all the cosmetic injections in our office, so you will be in great hands.
