Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen) - Golden Coast Dermatology

Cryotherapy (Liquid Nitrogen)

Liquid nitrogen (LN2) or cryotherapy is a common in-office procedure to remove skin lesions – including, but not limited to, actinic keratosis, inflamed seborrheic keratosis, and warts.

At first, the lesions will be red and can result in a blister or scab. Try to keep the blister intact. The resulting scab should fall off in about 2 weeks. A pink or white mark may remain but should fade over time.

The only care needed is a slight amount of vaseline (Aquaphor or Cerave) daily and to keep the area clean. No bandage is required.

Sometimes the treated areas need repeat treatments for full resolution. Please call the office with any concerns and please keep follow-up appointments for re-evaluation.
